Thank you to everyone that came out and joined us for the 5th annual celebration of Provincetown Pride the weekend of June 3 – 5, 2022. In addition to it being Pride, we were also joined by the attendees of Womxn of Color and Art Gaysel – all of which was happening in Provincetown at the same time.
Pride events started on Thursday evening with the PBG’s member reception, which featured a special panel discussion entitled Right on Q: Identity & Understanding Around the Word “Queer,” at the Fine Arts Work Center. Our conversation was moderated The Generations Project’s Adam Golub and featured Boston’s poet laureate Porsha Olayiwola, Massachusetts State Senator Julian Cyr and Jill Stauffer, Executive Director of The Commons in Provincetown.
Friday was packed with events including the re-dedication of the Seamen’s Bank rainbow crosswalk in Lopes Square, the unveiling of the “In Their Voices” exhibition on the East Lawn of Town Hall, the Bay State Cruise Lines Pride Cruise from Boston to Provincetown, QAF Bingo with Austin & Mackenzie, Provincetown Follies at the Crown & Anchor, the Pride Queen Debut Party at Shipwreck Lounge and the Pride Kick-Off Party at Red Room that night!
The PBG’s new LGBTQ+ History Tours, featuring Anne Hutchinson aboard Mayflower Trolley, were sold out before the weekend even started!
On Saturday, we were blown away when 2,000+ attendees showed up at Provincetown Town Hall for our Pride Rally & Sashay to Tea. This was by far the Provincetown Business Guild’s largest Pride Rally EVER and we were so thankful to all the community leaders, Provincetown entertainers and visitors that joined us for this incredibly moving event.

The rally featured remarks from Sarah Peake, Alex Morse, Austin Fiszel, Paige Turner and others including Muhammad Burhan, a non-binary activist from Pakistan who shared their remarks with our attendees, reminding everyone how fortunate we are to live in the world we enjoy in Provincetown – but also, that now is not the time to be complacent about our earned rights. There are many politicians seeking to reverse the rights of the LGBTQ+ community locally and abroad and we must do all we can to protect our LGBTQ+ family everywhere.
When the Pride Rally finished up, thousands joined the Town Crier, Qya Cristal, Miss Conception and many other performers that kicked off the celebration and marched with the group to Tea Dance at the Boatslip later that afternoon. For those who were looking for a spirit-free experience, Somerset House Inn hosted a Teaside party on their lawn following the Rally.
On Saturday we kicked off the day with a very special Pride ‘Sunday Service’ Drag Brunch hosted by Delta Miles, Roxxy Pops and Jizzelle at the Pilgrim House and later that afternoon we celebrated Pride with the art of our friend Gunnar Montana, who hosted a special pop-up photo opportunity in partnership with Trojan Brand Condoms, followed by “Yappy Hour” in the Courtyard at the Crown & Anchor Resort hosted by the boys at new Provincetown business Puppy Play.
Provincetown Town Hall was the PBG’s Saturday night venue, where we welcomed more than 450 attendees for the organization’s first-ever Queer Comedy Showcase! Thank you to all that joined us to laugh along with the humor or Kristen Becker, Anddy Eagan-Thorpe, Sam Morison, Franqi French and Jaye McBride. Following the show, we all danced the night away at the Pride Party at A-House.
Sunday morning started bright and early with 125 registrants joining the PBG for our first-ever Feet Over Front Street 5K Run / Walk with an after party hosted by the Provincetown Brewing Company. Shortly thereafter, we were joined by Ninny Nothin and the crew at the Crown & Anchor for the Full Spectrum Beach Party while more than 2o0 ladies closed out Pride weekend at Dyke Dock hosted by Kristen Becker and Anne Attalla at The Provincetown Brewing Company.
