Last weekend the Provincetown Pride Center hosted 23-year-old Pakistani activist Muhammad Burhan for a very special conversation with Stephen Desroches on how extremist right-wing American politics effects international LGBTQ+ policy. This was the first public event hosted in the Provincetown Pride Center and it was great to see such a large and enthusiastic crowd join us to hear directly from Muhammad about their experiences.
The entire conversation is now available on StoryCorps, and all are welcome to listen to it now online.
This conversation reflected many of the themes of the current exhibition in the space; Flag In The Map – that the Pride Center is hosting in partnership with the Gilbert Baker Foundation.
For the full month of June join us inside the center on Fridays and Saturdays to see Flag in the Map, a growing collection of photographs and stories that reaffirms the universal power of the Rainbow Flag to inspire LGBTQ+ people – especially in countries where their everyday existence is threatened.
We can’t wait to share our new space with the community, so if you haven’t yet had a chance to pop your head into the Pride Center at 115 Bradford Street!
