The Austin Tyler Horrorshow: A Christmas Horror Story
Provincetown Film Society Launches “The Austin Tyler Horrorshow“
at Waters Edge Cinema with A CHRISTMAS HORRORSTORY.
Provincetown, MA – December 4, 2025 – The Provincetown Film Society (PFS) announces a new winter community arts initiative, The Austin Tyler Horrorshow designed to bring fresh and frightening cultural energy to the Outer Cape during the coldest months of the year. Presented at Waters Edge Cinema, the series blends curated horror screenings, educational discussions, and the wonderfully eerie spirit of Provincetown in winter.
Hosted by comedian, entertainer, and lifelong genre enthusiast Austin Tyler, The Austin Tyler Horrorshow invites audiences to experience iconic and contemporary horror films inan engaging, interactive format. Each screening features a short pre-show talk exploring themes, visual motifs, psychological layers, and cultural influences found in the featured film. Audiences can also expect trivia contests with prizes from local businesses, followed by post-screening conversations focused on the symbolic and emotional power of the genre rather than traditional critique.
“I’ve always loved the horror genre not necessarily for the violence or scares, but for the opportunity to explore the darker regions of the human psyche and soul in the safe confines of film media and storytelling.” says Tyler. “What a strange and special treat it is to not only feel the fright, but to understand it.”
The first movie in the series will be the 2015 anthology movie, A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY, which interweaves four separate tales of terror happening concurrently on Christmas Eve in the fictional town of Bailey Downs. The stories include a family who brings home a sinister presence after cutting down a Christmas tree, a group of teens investigating a year-old murder at their school, a couple who encounters the anti-Santa demon Krampus after their child is replaced with a changeling, and a zombie outbreak at the North Pole where Santa must fight his afflicted elves. The four stories are connected by the overarching narrative of Christmas Eve as told by festive radio host, Dangerous Dan (William Shatner), and culminate in an epic showdown between Santa and Krampus.
A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY – Wed, Dec 17th at 6pm, Waters Edge Cinema
