Stories On The Hill: “Embracing Incongruity – Untangling the Truth About Slavery on Cape Cod” w/ Susanna Graham-Pye

We are honored to welcome award-winning Cape Cod writer Susanna Graham-Pye for a presentation on her important book For the Unremembered: A Journey of Reflection into Cape Cod’s Connection to Slavery. In this talk, Graham-Pye will share how she came to write the book and discuss the rapidly growing body of research documenting the presence of enslaved people on Cape Cod and throughout New England. She will also invite discussion about how we acknowledge the consequences of a lopsided and selective historical narrative, and what it means to more fully reckon with the stories that have long gone unremembered in Cape history. The talk will be followed by a Q&A with the audience. Copies of For the Unremembered will be available for purchase and signing after the program, and the book will also be carried in the PMPM Gift Shop throughout the season. The Shallop Bar will be open for refreshments.
