EVENT DESCRIPTION
Provincetown Film Society & Center for Coastal Studies team up for third annual Planet Ptown Environmental Film Series featuring WOMEN & THE WIND and LAST OF THE RIGHT WHALES. The Provincetown Film Society and the Center for Coastal Studies present an environmental film series on Earth Day weekend (April 22-24) that offers two films made in Massachusetts related to the ocean, climate change and citizen science. Screenings are followed by a conversation with filmmakers and/or scientists. Planet Ptown screenings will take place at the Water’s Edge Cinema, 237 Commercial Street, Provincetown.
WOMEN AND THE WIND is a project aimed at igniting the flames of curiosity and adventure which lay dormant within so many of us, by deepening our understanding of the synergy between nature and humanity—and by doing so radically. This project is led by a group of women and realized through a voyage across the North Atlantic on Mara Noka, a 50-year-old wooden catamaran.
LAST OF THE RIGHT WHALES Activists fight to save the North Atlantic right whale, which is currently dying faster than it can reproduce. With climate change forcing them farther north in search of food, the whales are on a collision course with ships and fishing gear.
