2026 Provincetown Polar Bear Plunge

On New Years Day 2026, Provincetown will celebrate the 10th annual Polar Bear Plunge!

On that day, hundreds of intrepid plungers will meet in the Johnson Street parking lot at 11 AM and enjoy piping hot coffee while learning about the vital work of the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS). At 12 PM, registrants will run, splash, and plunge into the waters of Provincetown Harbor!

**New this year: all registrants will receive a custom Polar Plunge-branded microfiber beach towel!**

Over the last 10 years the Provincetown Polar Plunge fundraiser has helped the Center for Coastal Studies:

  • Expand the shark surveys in the Caribbean into the US Virgin Islands, creating one of the largest in area surveys of its kind.
  • Hire an intern at the University of the Virgin Islands to aid in this research.
  • Help to safely capture, tag, and track over 130 sharks, representing 7 different species.
  • Purchase acoustic tags for juvenile sharks.
  • Stabilize the Shark Ecology Program as federal funding was cut.
